Here's what some of our clients say...

Jon is currently the instructor for walling workshops conducted in SA by the Dry Stone Walls Association of Australia. Jon has excellent walling skills and very effectively communicates these to a wide range of learners.
— Bruce Munday (DSWAA SA representative)
Thanks to JRM Stonework we were able to turn a bitumen car park into an inviting space where people are enticed to stop and further investigate the Lou Miranda Estate winery and facilities. Jon’s ability to take our rough sketches of the winery entrance and fully grasp the concept of what we wanted to achieve was excellent. A true craftsman, Jon worked with great care and diligence to ensure the stone walls and paths were completed to expected our expectation. Jon was able to match existing stonework so that the new area is a seamless extension with the old. Jon hasn’t just built a stone wall, he has created a space which enhances the look and feel of everything that we want to display in our outdoor environment.
— Victoria Miranda, Lou Miranda Estate, Rowland Flat, South Australia www.loumirandaestate.com.au
I contacted JRM Stonework looking for an alternative to the concrete-style retaining walls that are widely available, as the wall was going to be in a very visible part of our yard. Jon was professional from the very first visit, through providing us with a quote, and handling the various amendments as we re-worked the build a couple of times. The end result is simply stunning - a work of art, not just a wall, which adds beauty to the garden, as well as performing the very important job of retaining! His innovative solutions to our concerns during the job have resulted in something very unique. The whole team were diligent, incredibly polite, conscious and respectful of our neighbours, and happy to engage with our curious kids, who had tonnes of questions about the process!

I cannot recommend JRM Stonework more highly.
— Beth N, Bellevue Heights, South Australia
Jon, you and your team are true professionals.

We called Jon in regards to a stone pillar issue, he came to site inspected and advised, without delay the quote was in and he fit us into the schedule.

The two man team came, introduced themselves and got on with the job, they cleared all evidence of the pillar, cleaned up the mess, followed up with feedback on where they were at and even asked if we were happy with the job. The guys were very pleasant and worked hard to make sure the job was done to beyond satisfaction, well done gents.

JRM Stonework are probably one of the best companies I have ever had the honour of dealing with.

I speak with different contractors daily and you guys are a pleasure to have on board, again many thanks.
— Keith, Molly Dooker Wines, McLaren Vale, SA
Thank you so much for completing the dry stone work for us at Coromandel East. You have created a work of art and we will treasure it. It ties in seamlessly with our landscape and our self- catering accommodation, Bimbimbie Hideaway, and also with our heritage dry stone walls in the valley area of our property.

We enjoyed having your team building such beautiful walls and path to our special area.
We found you and your workers to be very friendly, good communicators and extremely neat.

It was an extra bonus that you filled in behind the walls with organic loam. These extra touches are most appreciated.

You are welcome to put pictures of your creativity at our property up on your website.
— Della Rowley and Louise Fuller, Bimbimbie Hideaway, Coromandel East, South Australia
JRM Stonework were great to deal with from start to finish. From a craftsmanship perspective, we could not be happier with the wall that they built – very neat, exactly the right dimensions, and great looking stone. The attention to detail was second to none, and it shows in the final product. From a customer perspective, all staff that were involved were polite, punctual, and obviously took a lot of pride in their work. They ensured the site was clean and tidy at the end of each day, and were always on time. We could not recommend JRM Stonework more highly, and would definitely use their services again in future.
— Alex A, Blackwood, South Australia
We recently contracted JRM stonework to do stonework in the garden surrounding our new home in Mitcham. We are absolutely thrilled with the result. The site is quite steep and posed a number of challenges but Jon and the team were more than up to the task. The centrepiece is a gently rising bluestone staircase that winds up through our semi enclosed rear courtyard with sandstone walls supporting terraced garden beds. The result is simply stunning. The large roughly hewn blue stone steps “float” upwards seemingly suspended in the air. The staircase is visible from the central gallery inside the house and never fails to attract admiring comments.

We now look forward to many years of appreciating our artful stonework and we are sure it will still be giving people pleasure long after we are gone. If you are thinking about doing something special with stone that will last more than a lifetime, then we could not recommend JRM stonework more highly.
— Antony and Bronnie V, Mitcham
From our initial meeting, to the present day, I have found Jon to be honest and reliable. Nothing is too much trouble; no job too small. He is always easy to contact, whether by phone or email. He is able to offer creative ideas and his ability to use the site stone to construct functional and stylish walls and steps is second to none. I am especially impressed by my very unique letterbox and water feature, constructed from large single pieces of bluestone.
— William H, Blackwood, South Australia
Jon Moore is an artist in stonework. Recently I needed a small area of crazy-paving to be built next to a large area which has been down for about thirty years. The work was professionally accomplished with true craftsmanship and great attention to detail. It is exactly what I wanted.
— Margaret L, Blackwood, South Australia
I contacted JRM Stonework to give me some ideas on building a stone retaining wall for a raised garden bed. Jon gave me a call, arranged a time to come around and provided me with a quote. We worked through some ideas and made a plan and set a starting date. I was impressed with Jon’s work, he turned up on time and worked through regardless of the weather. The job was finished to a high standard and the boys kept the work site clean and tidy.

I highly recommend JRM Stonework for any job needing to be done.
— Alex B, Kingswood, South Australia
Having read Jon’s explanation about ‘Why dry stone’ and the testimonials we decided to ask JRM to build a dry stone wall in Kanmantoo Blue Stone at the front of our home. It was a huge task and we are absolutely delighted with a wall that has added so much character and charm to our home. Jon’s skills, professionalism and outstanding efforts have given us a beautiful and timeless dry stone wall that we will cherish forever. We wanted a welcoming wall that our friends and neighbour’s could sit on, have a chat and enjoy the garden. We now have it!

Because Jon made it seem easy I almost forgot to mention the added complications in this task which included: a sloped block, re-welding & re-setting the original gate posts and accommodating both water and gas mains, which were in awkward positions. Jon managed these perfectly, despite the extra work they caused. We were very pleased with the cost of the wall and felt almost embarrassed by the end, given the effort & quality of workmanship, that it was so well priced.

‘Thank you Jon’ is simply inadequate to express our sincere gratitude for such a unique wall. If you are reading this and want to come and see it, please do: 1 Ellesmere St Kensington Park “

Neo Infrastructure was contracted by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources to upgrade the trails and amenities at the Lower Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens near Piccadilly, South Australia.

Includes in the scope of works was the construction of 240 lineal metres of low basalt wall, construction of stone faced steps and basalt dry stacked retaining walls.

Working to architectural concepts and engineering design parameters required the works to be both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound.

After an extensive search of the stonemasonry market inclusive of seeking references from prior clients, Neo Infrastructure engaged JRM Stonework to undertake the works.

The selection of JRM Stonework proved to be the correct one. Jon Moore and his team were first class not only in the finished product quality but in the project delivery.

Jon was able to discuss all facets of the works with both the engineers and architects to acheive a win win outcome for all. JRM were flexible in their delivery and worked in well with other trades on site to ensure a team approach in achieving the final outcome.

As a company that relies on professional subcontractors to deliver, it is comforting to know JRM Stonework are out there. In such a specialised field as stonemasonry JRM have proven their capability to all stakeholders involved in the project.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jon and his team for any related works and look forward to working with JRM Stonework in the near future.

We were given Jon’s name by a client who had a dry stone wall constructed by Jon, and who felt he was a very good tradesperson. He was very efficient in supplying a quote, and following up with email communications in respect of our requested work. He undertook the reconstruction of our damaged and disintegrating wall in such a manner that it was much more robust than when first built. He ensured we had access to our property at all times, even though the wall was on our entry driveway. A neighbour commented that they could not tell where the old and the repaired section of the wall met, the reconstruction was done so well. So, many thanks for the excellent job Jon.
— Don H, Blackwood, South Australia
We recently engaged JRM Stonework to build retaining walls either side of our driveway and we have been delighted with the process and finished product. Jon is a true craftsman and his passion for working with stone was evident right from the start. JRM Stonework were reliable, communicated well, were flexible to change and additional work, kept the site tidy and contained and produced work that exceeded our expectations!
— Sally & Stuart, Blackwood, South Australia
Jon has spent the last 2 weeks building a wall, a long, long wall in our backyard. After the first day I came home and saw his work I realised it wasn’t just a wall it was a form of art. Each piece designed to fit perfectly next to and on top of each other. Not only did Jon work tirelessly in all conditions he was also so pleasant and nothing was too hard, even when we kept adding things to his list. We have a large dog and Jon was diligent that when the fence was down she was away so she didn’t get out. I found him to be trustworthy leaving my home open to him every day without a second thought and a person of integrity. Lastly I would like to add that his prices for his standard of work our beyond reasonable ( don’t put them up we may want more work done).
— Cathy G, Bridgewater, South Australia
We were lucky enough to find Jon’s website when we were looking for someone to rebuild a dry stone retaining wall in our back garden. We knew it was a job we couldn’t undertake ourselves, to say we are are happy with the finished result is an understatement. Family & friends are very impressed !! The wall looks fantastic & will be the centrepiece of our back garden once our planting etc is complete. It’s obvious Jon & his team are true craftsmen & take pride in their work, we were surprised that all work was done manually without any machinery being used. The fact that they left the area completely clean & tidy after was an added bonus & shows their professionalism. We would most certainly recommend JRM Stonework to anyone needing this type of work.
— Marylyn & Kevin, Greenwith, South Australia
In revamping our suburban back yard, we hit upon the work of Jon Moore and JRM Stonework. It previously had not occurred to us to redesign our garden with mortared stone walls, and now with the works completed, we can’t stop looking at the end result and smiling? From start to finish, Jon and his team were prompt, polite and professional; every detail was attended to and accommodated. One pleasant surprise was the way the JRM team took pride in their work, to the point of suggesting design changes that improved the end-result. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of the approach which stands out these days, and cannot recommend JRM more highly.
— Gil & Julia A, Norwood, SA
I emailed JRM Stonework to discuss my plans for some stone walls and crazy paving. I had a vague idea as to what i wanted but needed someone with experience to tease out what was possible, what it would cost and what were the options. My first positive impression was that Jon replied to my email enquiry within a short time frame. We organised for a site visit to discuss my ideas and he helped me clarify what I was imagining for the garden project. I found him to be friendly and easy to talk to. Jon and his team worked on the walls and crazy paving for over a month. He was always on time, easy to communicate with and was very obliging to the changes I asked for along the way. Both Jon and his team did a fantastic job and I could not be happier with the final result. It was all done with care, precision and complete professionalism. I could go away, leave them to the job and always find that they had treated the site with care.

Jon is a perfectionist in what he does. He has very high work standards and was committed to providing me the client with quality workmanship from go to woe.

The stone walls are beautiful. The garden lighting on them at night really accentuates the beautiful hand picked stone. The crazy paving looks amazing, complementing the old bungalow home. Every time I look at the back garden I am so impressed with what has been done.

I am so pleased with Jon’s work that I have started planning for him to return to start on the front garden.

I must admit that getting work done can sometimes be a bit scary, but my experience with JRM Stonework was a complete pleasure. I have no hesitation in recommending JRM Stonework to anyone who wants a great job done to a very high standard. Thank you Jon for making the whole process stress free at all times.
— Craig K, St Morris, South Australia
We were recommended to Jon Moore of JRM Stonework by an engineer friend to repair and heighten a stone wall at the entrance to the front door of our home and to build a new stone wall for a garden to blend in with existing stone walls. We could not be happier with the results and the way Jon and his team approached the work each day, the completed walls which are a work of art and the tidying up of the site at the completion of the job. Jon is a true craftsman and has imbued that spirit in his team. The whole team were friendly, diligent and professional. Jon helped us clarify our thinking, supplied a professional (and reasonable) quotation and started work precisely when he said he would. Reliability is clearly an attribute which customers value.

We would not hesitate to recommend JRM Stonework to any domestic or business customer who is looking for a professional reliable stonemason and high quality results. His work will bring satisfaction and add value to any property.

Jon, again many thanks and congratulations to your team.
— Geoff U, Stonyfell, South Australia
I live on a steep block in the foothills and was looking for a set of stone stairs to be installed down to our back yard. JRM was recommended to me by another landscaper and Jon quickly came around to quote the job. He offered a very reasonable price and he and his team did an amazing job of turning a dirt slope into a very attractive path, giving us access to the bottom of our block. My wife and I got along really well with Jon and his team. They are extremely polite and friendly, are passionate about what they do and show a general interest in helping you.
— Todd M, Beaumont, South Australia
Thanks heaps, Jon. I’m very happy with the repairs. They fit in really well with the style of wall. I’ll certainly keep you in mind when we decide to have the other sections repaired.
— Adrian W, Highland Valley, South Australia
We had just completed building our house and contacted Jon about a dry wall for retaining and to add a feature to our front yard. All dealings with Jon were easy and professional. He was always prompt and reliable which gave us peace of mind that the job would be done to a professional standard. The overall finished product exceeded our expectations and has added character to our new home. We would definitely recommend Jon and his team.
— Frank R, Newton, South Australia
I have known Jon for a short period of time and in my judgement as a person he shows pure integrity, skill and a great deal of passion. Jon is a true artist and a very skilled worker as a stone mason should be. I would highly recommend him and his work.
— Alec K, Goodwood, South Australia
Jon provided a couteous, efficient and professional service with high quality craftsmanship. We are very pleased with our new stone walls. Thanks for a great job.
— Colin T, Ovingham, South Australia
JRM Stonework has been subcontracting to our landscaping business for over two years. Attention to detail, flexibility and a professional manner are reasons why we will continue to engage their services.
— Jamie McIlwain, Hills Classic Gardens
We always looked forward to having Jon and his team onsite. They were always professional and friendly to deal with, turned up on time and did an amazing job at a reasonable price. I wish all my trades were that easy!
— Andrea S, Aldgate, South Australia
We are in the process of renovating our 1950’s home with a large amount of stone retaining walls throughout the property. After much difficulty finding someone to assist us with the repair of these walls we finally got hold of JRM Stonework. Jon was prompt to reply and came to site within a week to provide us with options and competitive pricing on the repair and replacement of the stone walls in some areas. When the team arrived to complete the work they were courteous, professional and tidy throughout the entire process. We added some additional work which was completed without any fuss. Whilst working Jon’s crew also snuck in a couple of games of peek a boo with our curious toddler who loved watching them work through the window. The final tidy up and finished product was second to none.

I highly recommend Jon and his team for the professionalism and quality of work.
— Ben M, Hawthorndene, SA
Thanks again for the great work around the property. I love walking out the front door and seeing the new wall. It completes a great new boundary to the area.

The lads did a great job and we appreciate their friendly nature and professionalism along with working late to clean up all the areas.
— Cameron N, Aldgate, South Australia
21 years ago I bought my little patch of Australia and built my Irish cottage near the sea. One thing, from my design scrap book, I never finished was a dry stone wall. During Covid my eldest son and I decided to do some research to see if there were any Dry Stone Wallers or Artisan Stonemason in Adelaide. We were surprised to find a few but, for some reason kept returning to Jon Moore’s website. We arranged for Jon to come out to give us a quote. He brought us samples of a variety of stones. Jon was extremely knowledgeable about everything to do with dry stone walling. The origin, history, environmental/eco benefits etc. He showed us photos of his work and he explained the benefits of each stone. That was it. We were sold! We’d never met anyone so passionate about ‘stones’ and their trade! From start to finish our experience working with Jon and his awesome team (who are equally as passionate) has been amazing! I honestly can’t rave enough about them or recommend them highly enough! We absolutely LOVE our beautiful, new dry stone wall - so much so we keep popping out the front to have another look! We have been receiving endless messages and calls from people in our community to say how much they love it too! It was so cool and such a privilege to watch the skill, concentration and precision of Jon and his team at work. My son was so inspired watching our wall being built that he has registered for Jon’s next Dry Stone Walling workshop! It’s important to recognise that these living cultural traditions are dying arts. They are part of our history and what make us human so let’s all support local artisans like Jon at JRM Stonework and safeguard our heritage.
— Louise M, Grange, South Australia
If only all tradies were this professional!
From first contact, Jon was a great communicator, and followed up messages and arrangements as agreed. The project was completed on budget and ahead of time.
He is a true artisan and I would not hesitate to give him and his professional team the highest recommendation.
— Matthew R, Crafers West
We engaged JRM Stonework to assist us with some minor stone retaining wall remediation work. Jon and his team exhibited great professionalism throughout the entire project from quotation through to execution. The site team was punctual, courteous and completed the job well including site cleanup. We are very pleased with our experience and would definitely consider JRM Stonework for any future works.
— Kevin O, Beaumont, South Australia
Sincere thanks to Jon and his team for creation of my low bluestone garden wall. Very impressed with the end result - just love it. Highly recommend JRM Stonework.
— Judy G, Tranmere
We were delighted with JRM Stonework. Jon was an excellent communicator and his whole team was very professional yet friendly. They built a robust and handsome set of stone steps for us that fit in beautifully with the existing adjacent stone wall - even better than we’d imagined.
— Jeremy W, Aldgate, SA
We contracted JRM Stonework to do some small repair works on our front yard with lifting a large stepping stone back into position and repairs to slate finish bookleaf walls and crazy paving.

The JRM Team did a fantastic job, great teamwork and excellent finish – Very much appreciated and highly recommended for service and quality of works.

Thank you to Jon and the team.
— Paul W, Woodcroft, SA
Jon and his team are very skillful and professional. I am very happy with the work. I wish I had more stone work to be done. The quality and attitude are impeccable! Thank you Jon & team for your excellent work!
— Sascha Z, Glen Osmond, SA
JRM Stonework completely rebuilt the drystone walls in my hills garden, and recently came back to build a new section. Both times the quality of the workmanship has been excellent. Jon and the team can be relied on to work from general directions and provide advice when appropriate to deliver a great outcome. If I have another stonework job I’ll go straight back to JRM.
— Ian, Crafers, SA
Jon and his team were recommended to us to reconstruct a section of a 70-year-old stone wall, which had developed a large vertical crack and was progressively moving outwards.

In difficult Adelaide Hills winter weather, they saved the wall and expertly reconstructed it. We found all of Jon’s team to be very pleasant, always arrived on time, and showed obvious pride, professionalism, and interest in the stonework reconstruction. They also attempted to minimise as much as possible any disruption to the surrounding garden and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was completed.

We would, therefore, highly recommend JRM stonemasons and will not hesitate to use this company in the future if required.
— Victoria and John, Crafers West, SA
We presented JRM with a difficult site that many tradespeople would have shied away from. Not only did they complete the repairs to a high standard and on schedule, but the dry-wall approach also caused minimal disruption to the adjacent garden, which would not have been the case using ‘heavy machinery’. On top of that, they came in under the initial quote.
— Kent A, Beaumont, SA
Thanks to all the JRM Stonework team, I love my stone courtyard and raised stone garden bed. I would recommend this business to anyone wanting any stonework done.
— Janie G, Coromandel Valley, SA
We needed a large stone retaining wall replaced as it was falling down and at the point of collapsing. The work was more difficult because of a need to preserve surrounding structures. We are extremely happy with the finished result. This is now the strongest wall in the whole place and it looks great. They are a great team of friendly people and it has been a pleasure to have Jon and his crew around the place. The speed of work was impressive and is a function of the large hard-working and competent team. We will ask them to do work in the future.
— Paul C, Stirling, SA
When you are considering a project that involves a rock wall you debate if the price is justified over cheaper ways of getting the job done. Now that our project is finished, there is absolutely no doubt, definitely worth it. Our walls look fantastic, will be there forever, and they are already a talking point. Jon and his leading hand Aaron did an outstanding job, easy to deal with, accommodated tweaks where practical and cleaned up the site to a better condition than the original.
— Bill B, Mitcham, SA
We were thoroughly impressed with our dealings with you and that of your staff.

You went above and beyond our expectations!

From a tired old bluestone wall that was bowing out, we now have a wonderful, durable, double skin wall that will last the passage of time. Brilliant job, thankyou.
— Sandy J, Highbury, South Australia
Very happy with your work and clean up. Good to see a company that actually does what they say they would do. Well done.
— Stephen L, Carey Gully, South Australia
I contacted Jon for a quote on sandstone steps into an existing stonewall garden bed. His communication was timely and professional from then on. He would match the existing stone and capping on the top. My initial idea was a straight edge step but after making the dimensions out of paper realised that that would reduce the depth in the middle of a triangular step so Jon suggested a rounded step. Jon turned up at the appointed time with other stonemasons and finished the job in the allocated time.

The steps are beautiful and better than I ever imagined. They have created a different energy in the backyard as they will allow access into my future renovated back garden.

The clean up was impressive and timely.

I would recommend JRM Stonework every time.
— Linda and Gary, Dulwich, South Australia
I would definitely recommend JRM Stonework. Great people, lovely job and very professional. They built a dry stone wall for us, which looks fantastic (it’s more like a piece of art!), and did some slate ‘crazy’ paving. We love both jobs and they are of top quality. Above all, JRM were super professional and easy to deal with from meeting, quoting and doing the work.
— Anna G, Oakbank, South Australia
Professional, timely, great communication and easy to deal with. They did excellent work fixing my retaining wall and left the site tidier than they found it.
— Anna O, Hawthorndene, South Australia
The team at JRM did a great job of repairing our very old front stone fence that had been damaged from a tree falling on it during a storm that hit Adelaide in November 2022.

They were a professional, friendly and happy team, were dedicated and hardworking in all sorts of Adelaide Hills winter weather and they communicated well with us.

The unique front fence was originally built from locally sourced sand stone with some very large stones which make it quite distinctive.

The team were very skillful in matching the repairs to the original style and renovating the mortar. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to friends.
— Ivan M, Stirling, South Australia
It’s not always that I have such a skilled team who are so friendly and obliging to work here. It’s a real credit to you and the lads and greatly appreciated by me. Thank you.
— Julie G, Crafers, South Australia
